THE BOROUGH'S ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT (PHASE I) IS APPROVED

On June 8th 2021, our Recommendation Report SC24.1 – 2180 Lawrence Avenue East (Considered by Scarborough Community Council on May 18, 2021) was adopted by City Council without amendments and without debate. Now, on to the next step, being the Council enactment of the Zoning and Section 37 Agreement Bills.


On May 18th 2021, the Scarborough Community Council approved the Zoning By-law Amendment (Phase I) of "The Borough" project. This recommendation now goes to the City Council Meeting on June 8 for formal-final endorsement and it is going to be a formality.


On November 23rd 2020, the City of Toronto City Planning Division held a virtual public consultation meeting, and passed a rezoning permit for The Borough, located at 2180 Lawrence Ave East, Scarborough. 

It permits a dwelling unit increase from 286 units (as rezoned in 2018) to 429 units as follows: 282 units (previously 156 units) in a 21-storey apartment building on Lawrence Ave. E., 102 units (previously 66 units) in a 7-storey apartment building on Birchmount Rd, and two blocks of stacked townhouses (24 and 21 units) interior to the site (previously 64 units in three blocks). A total of 429 resident and 67 visitor parking spaces are proposed in 4 levels of underground parking. Vehicular and loading access will continue to be provided via a single driveway from Dulverton Road.
